BreathFinder is an independent verification and discovery platform. This page sets out exactly what we check before a professional or organisation appears on BreathFinder, what our verification does and doesn’t mean, and how we keep it current.
It’s built around three principles, and everything below follows from them.

A verified profile on BreathFinder means we’ve checked the things set out below, against the evidence the applicant supplied, on the date shown. It does not mean that we endorse them or think they’re good at their work — we’ve never watched them work; that we recommend them over anyone else; that we guarantee anything about the outcome of working with them; or that we’ve audited their business as a legal entity. Verification is a check, shown plainly, kept current. Nothing more, and nothing we can’t stand behind.

Before any claims go near the five stages, we confirm one thing — that there is a real, identified person behind the application. For an individual professional, that’s you. For a training provider, that’s the principal or named responsible person for the organisation.
We confirm the applicant is a real, identified person — for an individual, you; for an organisation, the principal or named responsible person accountable for it. Identity is checked through an independent, specialist identity-verification provider, to the same standard in both cases. It’s a one-time check — identity doesn’t change, so it isn’t repeated at annual re-verification. It confirms only who someone is: it is not a criminal-record, character or competence check, and for an organisation’s responsible person it is not a check that they personally hold a breathwork qualification. Any safeguarding or background-clearance requirements are dealt with separately, in the stages below.

Once your identity is confirmed and your documents are in, our team reviews them against the five stages set out below. Every professional goes through the same five stages. Within each stage, some checks apply to everyone, and others apply as conditions — triggered by what someone offers, who they work with, and the risk involved. A well-established facilitator and a coach just starting out go through the same five stages; the conditions that apply to each may differ.
We don’t operate a minimum-experience gate, and we won’t turn you away for being early in your practice. Instead we show experience honestly on the profile and, where a modality carries real risk, we check that your training and hands-on experience support what you’re offering.
For individual breathwork professionals — practitioners, facilitators, instructors and breath coaches.
We check a copy of your certification, or proof of registration with a relevant professional body. We confirm it’s genuine, that it came from the organisation you say it did, and that the qualification supports the type of breathwork you say you offer. We show your training and qualifications on your profile.
Membership of a recognised breathwork body is encouraged but never required. Where you hold it, we check it and display it, and it can streamline your verification. It doesn’t replace any stage — everyone goes through the same five — but it gives a seeker one more thing to go on.
If you hold professional insurance, send us the certificate and we read it properly — not just that a policy exists, but that it’s current and that breathwork is actually covered under it. We record what your policy covers and show it on your profile, with the date we checked.
Insurance isn’t a gate. You can apply, be verified and go live without it — your profile will simply say so. We’re not here to decide who’s allowed to practise; we’re here to make sure nobody has to guess.
We record your experience and the scope of what you offer, and show it honestly on your profile. Experience level isn’t a gate — we show it plainly, so a seeker can see where you are and decide for themselves.
Our verification covers your breathwork — that’s what “Verified breathwork professional” means. You’re welcome to list other qualifications and services (such as coaching, bodywork or nutrition), and we’ll show them where you provide supporting documentation — but clearly marked as outside what BreathFinder verified. We confirm those documents are genuine; we don’t assess or endorse practice outside breathwork, because that isn’t our field. This way a seeker can always tell what carries our check and what doesn’t.
Where you work with children or vulnerable people, we check that you hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) — or the equivalent background clearance for your region, such as a DBS check in the UK or a Criminal Record Check elsewhere. This condition applies wherever it’s relevant, and we don’t waive it.
Where you advertise or offer trauma-informed or trauma-aware breathwork — or breathwork that works directly with trauma — we check that your training supports the specific claim you make. Trauma-informed and trauma-aware are not the same thing, and we don’t let them share a tag: each appears on your profile only where the training behind it is evidenced. Where it isn’t, that claim doesn’t go live, though you remain verified for the rest of your practice. This condition applies whenever the claim is made.
You agree to the BreathFinder Code of Ethics. We also check that you have a client consent process and a way to identify relevant contraindications and decide whether a session is appropriate before working with someone, because contraindications for breathwork are real.
Where your training or modality warrants it, we check that your training included ethics content — professional conduct, boundaries, informed consent and confidentiality — evidenced from your curriculum.
We check that what you’ve told us matches the evidence you supplied. We look for consistency between your qualifications, experience, services and the claims on your profile. Where something doesn’t line up, we come back to you, and you’re welcome to resubmit.
Where a specific claim needs further support, we may ask for corroborating evidence — for example a testimonial with original proof of source. This is requested where needed, not required of everyone.

For organisations that train breathwork professionals — schools, academies and training organisations. Before the five stages, we confirm the identity of the principal or named responsible person (the same entry check individuals go through) and that the organisation is a real, identified entity. Training providers then go through the same five stages, adapted to an organisation rather than an individual. The principle is the same: we check what can be evidenced, we show what we found, and we don’t claim more than that.
We check that the organisation operates as it describes, and we review the training it delivers — the syllabus and curriculum, the techniques taught, how students are assessed, and what a graduate is certified to do. The organisation appears on its verified provider profile; once it’s verified, we add each reviewed course as its own course listing, showing what it covers and what a graduate is certified to do.
We check that the school has a qualified lead trainer — a named person who holds a genuine breathwork qualification and is accountable for the training delivered. Usually this is the owner; where the owner isn’t a qualified breathwork practitioner, the school names its senior trainer instead, and we verify that person’s credentials. We don’t individually vet every instructor — the school is responsible for its wider teaching team and the training they deliver.
We confirm the organisation exists and is registered as it claims to be. Where it’s a registered business, we check its registration against the relevant public register; where it operates as a sole trader or unincorporated body, we confirm the responsible person behind it (whose identity we verify at the entry check above). This confirms the entity is real and identified — it isn’t a financial, governance or operational audit.
Where the organisation holds insurance relevant to its training activity, we check the certificate — not just that a policy exists, but that it’s current and that the training activity is actually covered under it. We record what it covers and show it on the organisation’s profile, with the date we checked.
Insurance isn’t a gate. A training provider can be verified and go live without it — its profile will simply say so.
The organisation agrees to the BreathFinder Code of Ethics.
We check that the curriculum covers core safety and ethics fundamentals relevant to breathwork training — contraindications and screening, consent, safe practice, ethics and boundaries, and a clear scope of what a graduate is trained to do. We confirm these are covered; we don’t grade the teaching.
Where the organisation trains people to work in higher-risk settings — trauma, clinical or mental-health contexts — we check that its training includes specific safety, consent and boundary content for that work, evidenced from its curriculum. We confirm it’s addressed; we don’t certify it as clinically adequate.
We check that the organisation has student-care and duty-of-care processes suited to the training it delivers.
Where the organisation trains people who may go on to work with children or vulnerable groups, we check that its curriculum covers the relevant safeguarding requirements — so graduates understand their obligations, including any background clearance they’ll need before working with those groups themselves.
We review a sample of the certificate you issue to graduates — what it names, what it certifies, and the hours behind it — and we check that what the organisation tells us about itself and its training matches the evidence supplied. What it claims to teach, certify and represent is backed by what we were shown. Where something doesn’t line up, we come back to the organisation.
Where testimonials support a claim, we may ask for evidence from students, clients or peers, with original proof of source — requested where it helps corroborate, not from everyone.

The five stages establish what we’ve verified. Publication control is the separate, final step where we check that the profile we’re about to publish accurately reflects that verification. We check that the information shown is supported by the verification record, that nothing overstates what was checked, and that the verified information is presented clearly. Where something doesn’t line up, we come back to you before anything goes live. This is a publication-quality step — it isn’t one of the five verification stages, and it’s the last thing that happens before your profile appears.
When you successfully complete verification, you earn the BreathFinder Verified Breathwork Professional Credential. It provides proof that BreathFinder independently verified you against its published requirements. It does not certify your competence, endorse you, or guarantee anything about the outcome of working with you — it is proof of an independent check, not a qualification, accreditation or certification we confer.
The credential records what you earned. Your profile shows whether that verified status is currently maintained — displaying when you were last verified and when your next re-verification is due. The verification mark is the visual signal of your current verified status, and it always reflects the current state, not simply that you were verified at some point in the past.

Verification isn’t a one-time event. Once a year we email every verified professional and organisation to confirm they’re still practising, still insured where applicable, and that their details are still current — and to declare any new legal action, active claims, complaints or material changes since we last checked. It’s a quick check-in, it’s free, and it takes a couple of minutes. Disclosing honestly is part of staying verified; concealing something we would have wanted to know is a breach, and grounds to unpublish. (Your identity isn’t re-checked — it’s confirmed once, at the start, and it doesn’t change.)
Annual re-verification maintains your verified status; it doesn’t renew or re-issue the credential you earned. Your profile shows Last verified and Next re-verification so anyone reading it can see how current the check is. If re-verification isn’t completed by the due date, verified status becomes lapsed — the profile no longer represents you as currently verified, and the verification mark is removed or changed. This isn’t losing the credential you originally earned; it’s your current verified status no longer being maintained. Anyone can return at any time and restore current status by completing re-verification.
Because the credential records a completed check and doesn’t expire, there’s an important distinction in how it may be used once status has lapsed. You may always state, truthfully, that you completed BreathFinder verification on the date shown, and you may keep and present your dated Certificate of Verification as a record of that. You may not, however, describe yourself as currently “BreathFinder Verified” or display the verification mark while your status is lapsed — those represent a current state, and doing so would misrepresent it. Restoring your status through re-verification restores the right to both.
Where you tell us of a material change — a new qualification, a lapsed policy, a new modality — we re-check the affected items before they appear on your profile. And if anything’s changed for the better since we last checked — you now hold insurance, you’ve added a qualification, a modality or supervision — send us the evidence and we’ll update your profile to reflect it.
For training providers, one change must be told to us immediately, not left until the annual check-in: if your qualified lead trainer changes, tell us straight away so we can verify their replacement. A school’s training verification rests on having a verified, qualified person accountable for it — if that person leaves and no verified replacement is named, the training verification can’t stand until one is.

The documents you send us are used to carry out your verification and to maintain your verification record — not for unrelated purposes. They’re seen only by the people carrying out your verification and the providers that help us do it, and they’re never published and never sold. Your certificates and insurance documents themselves aren’t shown publicly — what appears on your profile is what we found, not the paperwork. The same applies to a training provider’s materials: we review your curriculum, intake and assessment documents to verify you, but we don’t publish them — a course listing shows what the course covers and certifies, not your internal materials.
Your identity is checked through an independent, specialist identity-verification provider. Full details of how your data is handled, including who we share it with to carry out your verification, are set out in our Privacy Policy.
We keep your verification documents for as long as your profile is live, so that at each annual check-in we can see what was verified last time. You can ask us to delete them — bear in mind that if you do, we may need you to supply them again at your next re-verification — and we remove them when your profile is permanently unpublished. Some records may be kept longer where we’re required or permitted to under data-protection law; our Privacy Policy sets out when. Requests can be made through our Legal Hub.
BreathFinder Ltd is based in Jersey, Channel Islands, and handles your data under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, alongside the UK/EU GDPR where it applies to you.
BreathFinder sells some forms of promotion — sponsored articles, and priority or featured placement. These are always labelled, so anyone can tell what’s been paid for and what’s been earned. Paid promotion changes where something appears. It never changes what was checked: no fee gets anyone verified, gets anyone a verification mark they haven’t earned, or puts a claim on a profile the evidence doesn’t support. Appearing on a country or regional page isn’t paid placement — every verified professional appears on their relevant pages as a matter of course, because being findable is the baseline of being verified, not an extra.

Yes — before anything else, we confirm you’re a real, identified person. That check is carried out by an independent, specialist identity-verification provider, not by BreathFinder itself — we don’t inspect or hold your passport or ID; the provider does the check and we receive the confirmation, not the document.
It’s a one-time check — your identity doesn’t change, so it isn’t repeated at your annual re-verification. It confirms only who you are: it isn’t a criminal-record, character or competence check. Where you work with children or vulnerable people, a separate background clearance (such as a Working With Children Check or DBS check) applies — that’s part of the Experience & Scope stage, not the identity check. Full detail of how your data is handled, including our identity-verification provider, is in our Privacy Policy.
Your current verified status can lapse — the credential you earned doesn’t disappear. Your profile is unpublished if you don’t complete your annual re-verification, and your verified status becomes lapsed until you do. That’s the ordinary case, and it’s not a penalty — it’s how “verified” stays true.
We’ll also unpublish a profile if something we verified turns out not to hold — a qualification we can no longer confirm, an insurance policy that’s lapsed and isn’t replaced, or a claim the evidence no longer supports — or if we find you concealed something you were required to disclose. We’d rather take a profile down than leave a verification mark on one we can’t stand behind. You’re always welcome to put it right and restore your current status.
Tell us. A new qualification, a new insurance policy, a new modality you want to offer — send us the evidence and we’ll check it before it goes on your profile. Anything we didn’t verify — your bio, your availability, your links — you can change any time, no re-check needed. It’s only the verified items we look at again, because those are the ones the verification mark stands behind.
That works both ways. If something changes that affects what we verified — an insurance policy that’s lapsed, a new legal claim, a qualification that’s been withdrawn — you’re expected to tell us promptly, rather than wait for the annual re-verification. Disclosing honestly is part of staying verified.
No. Verified means we’ve checked your claims against the evidence and shown what we found — not that we endorse you, recommend you over anyone else, or think you’re good at your work. We’ve never watched you work. What we do is make sure that when someone reads your profile, they don’t have to wonder whether the claims on it have been checked. The choosing is theirs.
They’re two different things, and you can have both. Professional verification checks you — your qualifications, your insurance, your practice. Training-provider verification checks your organisation — what it teaches, how it assesses, and how it approaches student care and safeguarding.
If you both practise and train, verifying yourself as a professional and your school as a training provider are separate checks with separate profiles. One is about the person; the other is about the organisation. Keeping them distinct is what stops anyone confusing what — and who — has been verified.
Yes. We verify what can be evidenced now — that your lead trainer is qualified in what they teach, your syllabus, how you assess, your safety and consent processes, the certificate you’ll issue. A track record helps, and where you have it we check it, but not having graduated a cohort yet isn’t a barrier. Your profile shows what’s there and what isn’t, honestly, and it grows as you do.
No — not for owning or running the school. What the training-provider verification checks is that the school has a qualified lead trainer — a named person, qualified and practised in what they teach, who’s accountable for the training. A school can be run by someone on the business side, provided there’s a qualified lead trainer accountable for what’s taught. Where the owner is also the lead trainer, they’re checked in that capacity. Separately, we do confirm the identity of the principal or responsible person — so there’s always a real, named person accountable for the organisation — but that’s an identity check, not a qualification one.
Not separately — verifying your organisation is its own process, and it’s accountable through your qualified lead trainer rather than through a check of every instructor. We don’t individually verify your wider teaching team — the school is responsible for the people it puts in front of students. If an instructor also practises independently, they can apply for their own professional profile separately. The organisation’s verification covers the training; a professional profile covers the person.
No. We’re not an accrediting body, and being verified on BreathFinder isn’t accreditation. We don’t approve your curriculum, rank it against other schools, or certify that your training meets an external standard.
What we do is check what you’ve told us against the evidence — your syllabus, your assessment methods, your safety protocols, what your certificate says a graduate is certified to do — and show what we found. Whether the course is right for them is the student’s judgement to make; our job is to make sure they’re not left guessing about what has, and hasn’t, been checked.

It provides proof that BreathFinder independently verified the professional against its published requirements. Training providers do not receive this credential; successful verification gives them verified training-provider status, shown on their verified provider profile. The credential, and verified training-provider status, are not certification, accreditation or endorsement.
